At September’s Gathering, we learned
and experienced Centering Prayer—brochures with
more information are on the table at the entrance to the meeting room
at the Mother House for those interested. October’s Mass gave us
an opportunity to pray together, and
our community enjoyed
champagne and cookies afterward.
November’s Gathering promises to
be fun and impactful. Jon Doran is leading us in an activity that gives
our community a chance to
know each other better, including a special surprise.
Then Interfaith
Ministries will speak about Refugee
Services, after which we will assemble bags of items
for single and expecting mothers.
This meeting touches upon all four of
the Dominican Pillars, and it’s sure to be fun, enlightening, and of
value, to those we are helping.
It’s not too late to contribute to the
items for the refugee bags. To see what still needs to be purchased,

Integral Ecology Minute
- We recently attended the Diocesan Conference,
hosted by Sr. Maureen, entitled “Laudato Si,” Faith in Action for
Our Common Home. The Diocese had some great speakers
presenting various topics from a spiritual, scientific, and
common-sense base of where we are, how dire things are getting,
and what we can do to help preserve the world.
- In the spring semester,
we will provide people with a short pamphlet summarizing Laudato Si, Pope Francis' encyclical on
caring for our common home — planet earth. The letter is addressed
to "every person living on this planet" and calls for a
global dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet
through our daily actions and decisions.
