Don’t miss tomorrow’s gathering, where
we Begin a community event
with lucky winners, and where no one is a loser. Then we take
time to learn and reflect on the refugees that come to the
United States and, specifically, Houston with an Interfaith
Ministries presentation
by Praveena Lakshmanan, Interfaith Ministries Community
Engagement Program Manager, followed by the service project
for single and expecting mothers.
This meeting may run 15 minutes past
our normal stop time of 8:00 p.m. We understand if you need to
leave promptly at 8:00 p.m. due to family and other
obligations.
Dominican Family T-shirts are
available for pick up at tomorrow’s meeting.
Reminder: Advent Day of Prayer is December 3, 10:00 a.m.
at the Mother House.

Integral Ecology Minute
Here's some information you may not
know and a reminder of how to be a part of reduce, reuse, recycle in
your life. We'll start with an easy one, single-use water bottles. We
all know they are easy to use and are EVERYWHERE! And we all feel
better when we recycle them, BUT…... as Paul Harvey used to say, and
now for the rest of the story.
- 91%
of plastic is NOT recycled
- 80%
or 22 BILLION plastic bottles end up in landfills EACH YEAR
- Coca-Cola
says just 7% of their bottles are made from recycled plastics;
Nestle says it is 6% for them
- It
can take 400 YEARS for a bottle to degrade in a landfill
- Microplastics
are now in EVERYONE's body, and single-use bottles are one of the
main sources
So, our challenge to you today is to
try a reusable container when you need water rather than grabbing a
plastic bottle. You can find bottled water made in boxes and cans now.
This is just one SMALL way we can all start living Laudato SI and
protecting our planet.
