- We
hope to be gathering in person next year!
- Dates
are still being finalized for monthly gatherings
- There
will be a commitment and recommitment ceremony at St. Theresa Catholic Church on September 26, 2021, at 3
p.m. More details to come!
- At
our April gathering, Laura Henderson presented The Dominican
Sisters strategic planning for the future. See attached for a full
report and look for an in-depth presentation next year.
- Consultants
were hired in 2019 and convened focus groups. A plan was
presented to the Sisters in 2020, and they agreed the approach
would be to focus on their wellbeing, life transition, and
communal life.
- A
position was created to help with these objectives-Heidi Clark
was hired as a full-time administrator.
- The
Sisters will focus on their mission of the charism and equitable
change in the education system in Houston.

Recapping the April Gathering:
- The
Racial Justice committee led us in the evening discussion,
"Understanding our Countries Racial Injustice."
- We
reviewed two powerful videos. The first was "Facing
Rage-systematic racism and the second was Face 2 Face. We broke
into small groups and had some very insightful discussions about
this very important and critical issue in our world today.
- Calista
told us about all the resources and information the Racial Justice
Committee has put together in the Racial Justice Committee tab on
the Dominican Family website. She encourages everyone to check it
out under the resource page on the website.

Great News...New Inquiry Class begins with Dominican Family Invitational Gathering on August 30th
Now is the time to invite your family
and friends to come to see what our Dominican Family is about.
The Invitational Gathering on Monday, August 30th, will launch
the newest Inquiry Class.
Please contact Sr. Carol Mayes at cmayes@domhou.org
or 832-628-0280 with the names of those interested. Carol will
send them a personal email with details on this newest class.
Joining this Inquiry Class will be
eight dynamic women and men that began their Inquiry journey in January
2020. Unfortunately, their journey had to be put on hold due to
COVID-19 precautions. So you see, this is going to be a great Inquiry
class.

CCL's Call to Action to Care for Our Common Home
CCL's Catholic Action Team invites you
to our very first virtual CCL Catholic Conference! The sixth
anniversary of the release of Pope Francis' encyclical letter "Laudato Si’ On Care for our Common Home"
inspired us to hold our conference, entitled Call
to Action to Care for Our Common Home on May 15th,
2021.
Who should join us:
Everyone! Especially CCL volunteers with Catholic members of
Congress! We made it easy for you to find out if your member of Congress is Catholic.
When: May 15th, 2021, from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. Eastern time.
Why: To explore the tools you'll need to effectively reach
Catholics and activate the Catholic voice to Care for Creation and
promote the EICDA.
Where: On Zoom. Once you register, we'll send you the
link to join close to the date of the conference.

Interfaith Ministries Opportunities
May 13 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – Join
us for a virtual Dinner Dialogue "Abraham in Conversation"
with leaders from the Hindu and Buddhist traditions. Register HERE.
May 18 from Noon to 1:00 p.m. – Join
us for our monthly "Faith in Our City" session that focuses
on Islam. We welcome an artist that will help us learn more about the
use of art in Islam as well. Register HERE.
May 20 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. -
Join us for our closing event as we celebrate our time with
"Abraham: Out of One, Many" with our Third Annual Gershenson
Lecture "Abraham and Beyond: The Future of Interreligious
Engagement." Our lecturer this year is Rev. Greg Han and will
include responses from two nationally recognized scholars. The
Gershenson Lecture was established in 2018 to honor Elliot Gershenson,
President Emeritus of IM, and focuses on topics of religion, ethics,
and peace. Register HERE.
