This month’s meeting had
about 45 family members who gathered by Zoom. It was led by Greg
Schockling with technical help from Lauri Ruiz and Calista Herbert.
Announcements
Calista gave an update for
the newly formed Racial Justice Committee. The committee had its
first meeting last month. Calista shared the committee’s mission
statement: To address the crucial issue of racial
injustice through education and action by the Dominican family. She
then showed a powerful video illustrating racial
inequity. Please contact Calista at calista@herberts.org
to learn more about participating with this new committee. The next
committee meeting is Monday, November 9 at 11am.
Meeting
Greg kicked off the meeting
with a prayer for All Souls Day and then
transitioned into the next set of modules in “The Life and Spirit of St.
Dominic:” Formative encounters. These modules focused on the Life
as a Canons Regular and Dominic
Encounters The New World. We broke out into small groups
after each module to discuss the following questions posed at the end of
each module.
Life as a
Canons Regular
- What
is the current reality teaching you?
- What
invitation does it hold for you?
Dominic
Encounters The New world
- These
encounters in Dominic’s life deepened his convictions: God is
here, all is sacred, grace abounds. How do these convictions
shape your own life journey? Is there one you feel drawn to grow
in?
Additional

the Advent books are available. She requested that we visit the Dominican
Family website (www.dfhouston.org)and provide our current
addresses and zip codes to determine the book distribution.
The books will also be available at St. Agnes and St. Pius. If you
have any questions please reach out to Sister Carol.
Meeting
