Upcoming Events - DF February Gathering
"Spiritual Body, Human Institution": Discerning our Response to our Institutional Crisis Monday, Feb 4 -- gather at 6:30; meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. During our evening together we will take time, in the spirit of prayer, to bring into focus the crisis of abuse we are facing as a church: to recognizing the many different reactions we hold in our hearts: and enter further into discerning how the Spirit may be calling us to contribute new life to the Christian community as well as our institution. - Annual Dominican Family Retreat

Hello Dominican Family, Over the past few years many of us have volunteered with Angela House. This spring Sharon Copper & I are starting a book club with the women of Angela House. The women look forward to reading together and then engaging in a book discussion. Our goal is a book every 6-8 weeks. We hope many of you will be interested in joining us. More details on the specific dates to come in a couple of weeks.
We are looking for a couple of CD boomboxes to play audio CDs so some of the women can listen aloud while they read along. Yes, a bit old fashion, but much easier to get started at this time. So if you have a CD boombox and or a CD player with speakers you want out of your house, we'll take it.
We've started a short list of books to read over the next several months. If you have any of these and are ready to give them away, we'll take them. Many of the women have library cards and a library is within walking distance from Angela House. However, it's not always easy to get 10-12 copies within the same time frame when they want to read the book. The book sets we collect will stay at Angela House and be used again as groups of new residents arrive. We thank you for your continued support of Angela House. The women of Angela House are so grateful the Dominican Family continues to support them and pray for them. I know they pray for us. Here's the book list we have started: - Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne -- discussion in late March, already have 11 copies
- Wonder by RJ Palacio
- Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
- Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom
- A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
If you have small boxes (shoe box or smaller) please bring them to the February meeting. I'm collecting them for the Angela House Bake Sale at our March gathering.
See you at the next Dominican Family gathering!
