Hello Dominican Family, and welcome from the Integral
Ecology Committee!
We wanted to share some information with you regarding the
upcoming COP27 and some links to let you learn more about what YOU can do
and what others are doing to fight climate change globally.
We’ll make it easy and answer some simple questions about it
then you can take the next step.
What is
COP27? COP27 is the short name for the 2022 United Nations Climate
Change Conference, commonly referred to as the 27th United
Nations Climate Change conference.
Where is it
being held? Several African countries will host COP27 from November 7
-18, with Egypt being the main host country.
What is it? COP will be attended by over 90 countries, including the US,
and the main goal is to share adapted knowledge and expertise with an aim
to accelerate action on climate adaptation.
Why is it
important? COP27 is a chance for ALL countries invited to present and
discuss their updated plans to reduce carbon emissions and reach net zero
by 2050. Environmental charities, community groups, think tanks, and
businesses all take part in the conference.
The Integral Ecology committee would like to share with everyone
a guide and calendar from the National Association of Dominicans Justice
and Peace Coordinators who will be participating in the 2022 United Nations
Climate Change Conference or COP27. The link below will take you to the
Calendar of Reflections and videos to use during COP27, which begins this
week. The videos are great; please enjoy them before, during, and after
COP27. Many great Dominicans shared their stories in the videos and
reflections on the scripture, speaking to all of us on EARTH, OUR COLLECTIVE
HOME!
This spring, the Integral Ecology group will host the April
Family meeting, and we hope to share with you many tips and ideas on how we
can all do our little part to help God’s gift to all of us, our earth.
Enjoy the videos and reflections.
