Dominican Family of Houston – Statement in response to the
Buffalo, New York tragedy
Sadly, we find ourselves in all too familiar a situation in our
homeland: racism, white supremacy, hatred, and gun violence have inflicted
unbearable pain and grief of lost innocent lives within the community of
Buffalo, New York. Our shared anguish is deep; our shared grief is heartfelt.
We in the Dominican Family raise our voices once again against
this grave violence and injustice. We recommit ourselves to the ongoing
work of dismantling white privilege and transforming minds, hearts, and actions
to recognizing that we are all God’s children, each and every one of us, with
equal value, worth, and grace.
May our lives give witness to the Gospel values of love and
compassion.
Peace,
Mary
