I hope
you're doing well as we transition from a hot summer with no hurricanes
to the fall weather this weekend! Finally!
We wanted
to remind everyone our next Dominican Family Gathering will be
November 8, starting with social time at 6:00 p.m. The
hard-working Racial Justice Committee is hosting this month's
gathering, and they have an eye-opening evening in store for us.
Mark your calendars to be there, you won't be disappointed.

The Racial
Justice committee will listen to and discuss the podcast playlist, Black Experiences, from the Podcast Brunch Club. We will
re-visit the first podcast, "We (still) don't say that,"
from our Oct 19 meeting. Additionally, we are researching and then
discussing the upcoming Nov 2 election ballot items, including the
state constitutional amendments and, most importantly, school board
candidates. All are welcome to join us. Please contact

From the Poverty Committee
There will be a
town hall meeting with the new police chief Troy Finner sponsored by
TMO on November 1st at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Please see the flyer for more details on this extremely important discussion
on the future of police reforms.

November 6, we will be looking at the
environmental inequities in the Houston area experts. "They are
being exposed:' Experts fear lead poisoning makes Fifth Ward one of 'hundreds of Flints"
(October 2021) is just one of many headlines in the Houston Chronicle
over the last several months addressing how environmental issues and
the expansion of the Port of Houston have
negatively impacted many of our neighbors.

great rest of the month! As you can see, there are SO MANY things for
us to look at and opportunities to get involved. Dominic asks us
to be involved in our community and make the world a better place.
These are just a few ways we, as the Dominican Family, can answer
that calling and continue his work.
