Blessing your home for Epiphany
Some people have a tradition of blessing their home on
Epiphany, by writing on the door frame above the entrance to their
house, with chalk that has been blessed. This year's blessing can be
written as follows:
20 + C + M + B + 20
The letters C, M, B have two meanings. They are the
initials of the traditional names of the three magi: Caspar, Melchior,
and Balthazar. They also represent the Latin words “Christus mansionem
benedicat” which means “May Christ bless the
house.”
The “+” symbolizes the cross and the 20 and the 20
represent the year.
